Job Title: Food and Community Organizer, UC Davis Student Farm
Position Type: Part-time, 8-12 hours per week

Job Description:
The Student Farm at UC Davis is seeking a passionate individual to be our Food and Community Organizer. This role is integral to building a vibrant community and fostering a sense of belonging and connection on the farm, as well as a positive and inclusive food culture. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating farm events, communicating with student farmers, interns, and volunteers, connecting with campus partners, and engaging with diverse student groups.
Responsibilities:
- Coordination of Farm Events:
- Coordinate student and staff teams to plan and produce events for the Student Farm and campus communities, including workshops, farm meals, social gatherings, and educational programs.
- Recruit and coordinate participation of students from all farm programs in farm events and food culture.
- Survey students about their interests regarding food and community-building activities at the Student Farm.
- Participate in weekly field work activities with other students at the SF.
- Communication and Outreach:
- Collaborate with various campus partners to raise awareness of opportunities at the Student Farm.
- Utilize social and traditional media to inform and involve students in social and community-building activities.
- Help maintain the Student Farm student listserv and perform similar tasks to maintain methods of communication with students.
Qualifications:
- A genuine enthusiasm for food, sustainable agriculture, and community well-being.
- Experience with event planning and team coordination.
- A commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment that encourages sharing and collaboration.
- Strong social skills with a genuine interest in building and nurturing community.
- Experience working with diverse groups across campus.
- Organized and detail-oriented.
- Basic computer competency, including proficiency in social media platforms.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Availability to work some evenings and weekends.
- Able to work through the end of spring quarter. Possible extension in the summer and following school year
