Here, you’ll be at the heart of projects that impact fisheries policy and practice across the nation, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team on fascinating, meaningful projects. As part of our fisheries team, you’ll tackle challenging and important questions, from understanding the impacts of fisheries disasters on subsistence communities to exploring solutions for equitable, climate-resilient fisheries management. This role offers an opportunity to conduct interviews, analyze extensive datasets, create compelling data visualizations, and write impactful reports that drive policy and decision-making. What You’ll Do: • Work on diverse, high-impact projects with government agencies, nonprofits, NGOs, industry groups, and fishery management councils, providing information they need to navigate today’s complex fisheries landscape. • Conduct rigorous socioeconomic research, dive deep into data analysis, write effective reports, and apply creative thinking to address real-world problems. • Play a key role in projects covering everything from understanding impacts and tradeoffs under catch shares, to developing methodologies for fair and effective compensation due to offshore wind development impacts on fisheries. Who You Are: You’re an interdisciplinary thinker with a strong foundation in fisheries science, U.S. fisheries management, and socioeconomics. You love working with data and translating complex information into clear, actionable insights that can support effective management and policymaking.
