Job Description

Primary responsibilities include the completion of various forms of sampling for characterization and waste profiling purposes; supporting project team in management of analytical data/reports; assembling and maintaining field reports/documents and maintaining regular communication with team members to ensure that client requirements are met.

  • Environmental sampling of soil, water, and construction related debris
  • Use of various forms of field instrumentation including NORM meter, X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzer, four-gas meter, ionization detectors amongst others
  • Monitoring multiple communications (email/ text/ IM/ phone) from team members to track different activities
  • Reviewing documents including analytical reports and field data collection reports to ensure that they meet specific client requirements
  • Communication with internal team, subconsultants, and client
  • Updating databases and Excel spreadsheets to track program requirements
  • Engagement in the process and willingness to identify process improvements to provide benefit to our client
  • Complying with all Stantec and client policies including those related to safety, anti-harassment, and drug use

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • High attention to detail is essential to candidate success
  • Proficient in standard business software including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Teams, and ability to learn new software systems
  • Active 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification preferred
  • Current First Aid & CPR training certifications preferred
  • Ability to track and complete multiple concurrent requests
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills
  • Mindfulness and judgment to elevate client, internal or safety related issues.
  • Willingness to work when and where needed, generally between Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for office/computer-based work. Field-related activities will consist of approximately 10-20% of time and may have extended work hours requiring a moderate level of travel and potential short duration overnight stays (typically one night, but potentially additional nights could be required) and the occasional/rare night shifts based on the certain construction schedules of projects requiring sampling.
  • Must have a good driving record and valid Driver's License.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a science related field, professional experience involving environmental projects and associated sampling activities preferred but not necessary.
