Job Description

The Division of Integrated Science and Engineering, Biotelemetry and Special Investigations Unit, is looking for a highly motivated Environmental Scientist to work with our team of fisheries professionals and engineers to support the study and operation of fish protective facilities in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. The Environmental Scientist is responsible for conducting studies to understand and improve the survival of fish through the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. Field duties may include deployment of fish sampling gear, collection and identification of Delta fishes, fish tagging and releases, and deployment and retrieval of telemetry receivers. Office duties may include completion of project management documents, report writing, data analyses, and preparation of oral and poster presentations for management and scientific conferences. In addition, the incumbent will coordinate with other agencies as necessary, such as the CA Department of Fish and Wildlife, the National Marine Fisheries Service, and other State and federal regulatory agencies, and participate in multi-agency coordination meetings such as the Interagency Ecological Program’s Biotelemetry Project Work Team and Interagency Telemetry Advisory Group.
