Do you like walking through a foggy marsh or boating the sloughs of the Suisun Marsh as the sun rises? If so, this may be the job for you. The Bay Delta Regions Wildlife Program is looking for a team member to assist the Department of Water Resources in conducting biological inventories and monitoring, assessing biological impacts, and developing mitigation and enhancement measures, as required by the Suisun Marsh (SM) Habitat Management, Preservation, and Restoration Plan (Plan), SM Preservation Agreement (SMPA), and related permits for restoration/enhancement projects. The incumbent will act as lead to collect data, conduct surveys, and prepare annual reports on California Ridgway’s rail and California black rail, act as lead for the SM triennial vegetation survey, and assist with surveys for salt marsh harvest mouse, listed plants, and other wildlife and plant species. The incumbent will assist with the development of habitat restoration/enhancement projects in support of the SM Plan and assist with monitoring of environmental compliance and biological effectiveness of restoration and enhancement sites for fish, wildlife, and vegetation. This data will lead to recommendations for tidal restoration, mitigation land acquisition and development, and future marsh planning.
