Position
As an Environmental Protection Specialist, you will:
- Serve as a technical advisor on FHWA policy, laws, regulations, Executive Orders, and directives related to NEPA and FHWA's project development process.
- Advise stakeholders and partner agencies on integrating the environmental and transportation planning processes and other approaches to improve the linkages between planning and human and natural environmental issues.
- Conduct field reviews to resolve complex environmental issues/problems and provides technical assistance to the Division Office's transportation customers regarding the environmental process for FHWA transportation projects.
- Conduct program and process reviews of Federal-aid projects, including field reviews, to ensure that Federal requirements and environmental commitments are achieved.
- Provide guidance and technical assistance to FHWA stakeholders on information that should be considered when analyzing transportation projects' natural, cultural, economic, and land use impacts.
- Provide technical assistance on public involvement in the transportation decision-making process.
The ideal candidate for this position is a highly motivated person looking to expand their knowledge and experience in transportation project development, environmental program review and oversight, and stakeholder engagement. This candidate should have experience and/or higher education in applying environmental standards, methods, and practices, as well as preparing and reviewing environmental documents.
The position is eligible for Telework, and occasional travel is required. Relocation expenses will be reimbursed.
