Under the close supervision of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory), the Environmental Scientist (ES) will apply scientific methods and principles to identify and analyze disproportionate environmental impacts to ensure that environmental justice and equity are considered and incorporated into the Department’s work. The ES will support the development of environmental justice and equity programs and initiatives at DPR.

Working Conditions
The incumbent will work in an administrative office building, under artificial lighting: sit for moderate periods of time, using a computer for up to 8 hours a day. Travels as required to attend environmental justice, equity, or tribal meetings and department sponsored outreach and community engagement events.
NOTE: This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location, as indicated on their duty statement, at their own expense.
This position is eligible to candidates anywhere in the State of California. Depending on the location of the candidate hired, the candidate may report to any one of the following physical locations:
