CEC Energy Research and Development Division (ERDD) deploys over $300 million annually to
advance new scientific approaches and technology innovations to meet the state’s clean energy
and climate change policies including but not limited to the areas of renewable energy supply,
building and industrial decarbonization, sustainable transportation, energy storage, energy
distribution, resilience and reliability, and carbon management. The Energy Systems Research
Branch (ESRB) focuses on advancing research and emerging energy infrastructure technologies
to support clean, reliable, safe, equitable, and affordable electric and gas systems.

Desirable Qualifications:
• Knowledge of gas and electric system safety, reliability, and related technologies,
programs, and policies.
• Knowledge of state clean energy and emissions reduction goals and policies.
• Knowledge of trends, issues, government requirements, and basic court decisions
affecting gas and electric utilities.
• Ability to work well as part of a team and perform independent tasks that contribute
toward shared goals.
