CEC Energy Research & Development Division (ERDD) deploys over $300 million annually to advance new scientific approaches and technology innovations to meet the state’s clean energy and climate change policies including but not limited to the areas of renewable energy supply, building and industrial decarbonization, sustainable transportation, energy storage, energy distribution, resilience and reliability, and carbon management. Energy Analysts will support one of the following Units within ERDD: Energy-Related Environmental Research Investigate the energy sector’s environmental and public health impacts and illuminate resilience options to prepare the transitioning energy system for a changing climate. Renewable Fuels Advance emerging low-carbon fuels, with emphasis on clean hydrogen and biomass-to-energy systems; gas system decarbonization; and firm, dispatchable renewable generation.
