Terms of Contract
The consultant will be hired by CPI in its role as Secretariat of the CLIC and will be allocated up to a maximum of 40 days.
Objective of the Consultancy:
This consultancy will support the delivery of The Connector objectives. identify, refine, and develop approaches and tools for providing technical assistance (TA) to agribusinesses, as well as to deliver TA to a select number of agribusinesses and SMEs within the CLIC Connector portfolio.
Timeline
This contract term may be extended subject to requirements. Timesheets must be submitted monthly and reviewed and approved by the CLIC Program Lead.
Deliverables
Output 1: Identify technical assistance relevant resources and develop the methodology and tools necessary to support agribusinesses on climate and nature impact/risk assessments. The Consultant will work in coordination with the CLIC Connector Manager and technical assistance team in developing such the methodology and tools.
Output 1 format: The Consultant should contribute through brainstorming sessions, by drafting notes in Word or PPT and reviewing drafts in any of the above formats. and workshops designed to develop methods and approaches to support agribusinesses, sharing summary notes in Word format.
Output 2: Provide technical assistance to agribusinesses in the form of assessment of climate and nature risks and impacts on agribusinesses using quantitative approaches to the extent possible and complementing those with qualitative assessments where necessary.
The Consultant will also co-lead pitch development with agribusinesses, typically in Power Point format including summary text, graphs, and tables. In particular, the consultant will support agribusinesses in the preparation of investment pitches and supporting materials ahead of the Africa Food Systems Summit in September 2023.
Output 2 format: For each agribusiness, quantitative and qualitative findings and analysis will be consolidated in one 3-5 pages Word document (excluding list of references and annexes) accompanied by 1-2 PPT slides summarizing the findings to be included in investor-facing pitch decks. Table formats, graphs, and charts to make the materials reader friendly are encouraged where relevant.
Output 3: Work with selected agribusinesses by providing analytical support related to climate and nature elements to feed into eventual investor due diligence processes. Support must consider a review of the best practices currently used by other organisations.
Output 3 format: Review of investor due diligence processes. Review of agribusinesses documents, inputting tracked comments where helpful.
Scope of Work
The table below summarizes proposed consultancy activities and timing. All work to be undertaken by the Consultant must be done in close coordination with the CLIC Lead and CLIC Connector Manager to ensure alignment with the broader CLIC activities.
