This is a full-time, two-year position with the possibility of renewal, based at the CEC Secretariat in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. A hybrid arrangement may be considered in the future.
This position will initially be situated within the Executive Director’s Office until a suitable placement in one of CEC’s other units is determined. The EJ Officer will work closely with the CEC’s various units and with external partners, organizations, public officials and community leaders to support the advancement of environmental justice (EJ) across North America and across the CEC’s programs, initiatives and operations. The EJ Officer will provide advice to the CEC Secretariat and to the CEC’s various constituent bodies on the issue of EJ, while also building alliances to advance EJ with key actors in civil society, among community leaders, academia, the private sector, international organizations, and in multiple levels of government across Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The EJ Officer will also help implement the CEC’s North American Environmental Justice Action Center (NAEJAC) activities, announced by the CEC Council in June of 2024.
