Climate Action Plan Program Manager

Under the direction of the Deputy Director/Chief Sustainability Officer in the Sustainability and Mobility Department, the Climate Action Plan (CAP) Program Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the daily operations of the team responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the City’s Climate Action Plan, including the climate equity strategy.  The CAP Program Manager is a member of the Department leadership team, helping develop and guide the strategic vision of the Department in coordination with the Director and Deputy Directors.  Working with other departments, external stakeholders, and local residents and businesses on a daily basis will be critical to ensure the City of San Diego equitably reaches its Climate Action goals. This individual will be required to utilize strong communication skills and political acumen for on-going coordination with the Mayor’s Office, Councilmembers, and other City departments and staff.
 
While this position is partially telework eligible, significant in-office presence is required as this position will be expected to contribute to effective operations of the City's day-to-day sustainability programs including directing, managing, participating, and coordinating the activities and operations relating to the stakeholders responsible for implementation, monitoring, and measurement of the City's comprehensive Climate Action Plan. This position will also be expected to present on efforts of their team and the department to City management, City Council, and public audiences.
