EPM student community celebrates achievements in year end gathering

The Environmental Policy and Management Social Committee hosted its annual spring celebration, Legacy Night. Previously, known as EProM, this end of year event evolved into something much more than a “prom”. The new name reflects a broader purpose of bringing together EPM students, faculty, alumni and friends to celebrate both accomplishments and the enduring legacy of the program.

This year’s theme was inspired by the ecological concept of rewilding, which focuses on returning ecosystems to a natural state with little human interference. Rewilding emphasizes allowing native species and natural systems to shape ecosystems, ultimately  promoting greater biodiversity. In keeping with the theme, guests were encouraged to wear their favorite animal or nature print, and it was so fun to see everyone’s personalities and creativity shine through!

This year’s event was held at the Putah Creek Lodge and hosted about 60 attendees. Appetizers were catered by Capitol Garage while desserts were shared pot-luck style, showcasing our community spirit. Throughout the night, everyone enjoyed yard and table games, snapping group pictures with a polaroid in front of our themed backdrop and participating in the raffle!

In keeping with EPM tradition, the raffle event serves as an opportunity to build connections and give back to our community. This year’s raffle donations went to the Putah Creek Council (PCC), represented by Peyton Goodwin, who gave a small speech regarding the work they do and shared volunteer/work opportunities with us. EPM Social Committee is proud to have raised $200 for the PCC.

At the end of the night, the event was a huge success and brought together the EPM community in a fun and meaningful way! My vision for future Legacy Nights is to continue strengthening our connections with the staff and alumni and encouraging more participation. I am so excited to see what Legacy Night will bring next year!
